Plumbing supplies in New Zealand: what we sell, and what we don't
We are an online home improvement store, not a plumbing merchant. We do not sell pipe, valves, fittings or tapware. What we do carry are a few pieces that sit around the plumbing in a Kiwi home, and we keep this page honest about that.
In the bathroom there is a suction grab bar that fixes to tiles without drilling. In the kitchen there is a glass rinser that mounts beside the sink, and peel-and-stick subway tile for the splashback behind it. In the laundry there is a washing machine drain pan that catches a leaking hose before it reaches the floor.
Before you start a plumbing job
In New Zealand, sanitary plumbing and drainlaying is restricted work under the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006. Changing a washer or fitting a grab bar is fine to do yourself. Moving a waste pipe, connecting a new tap or altering drainage is not, and most councils will also want a building consent for drainage work.
So the products here are the easy wins. They install with suction cups, adhesive or no tools at all, and none of them touch the water supply.
Why the drain pan matters in a New Zealand laundry
Many Kiwi laundries sit on a timber floor with a cupboard on either side. A burst inlet hose or a slow drip from the standpipe soaks the particleboard before anyone notices. A pan under the machine holds the first few litres and gives you time to turn off the tap. It is the cheapest insurance in the house.
Delivery across New Zealand
Orders over NZ$90 ship free anywhere in New Zealand. Under that it is a flat NZ$25. We hand your order to the courier within 24 to 48 hours and most parcels land in 5 to 7 days. Express shipping is NZ$25 if you need it sooner. Rural addresses are fine, they just take a little longer.
Need something you cannot see here?
Email us. If it is a plumbing part we cannot supply, we will say so straight away rather than leave you waiting. If it is something close to what we stock, we will tell you what we can do.
What we actually stock today
Three items, each one close to the plumbing rather than part of it: the suction grab bar, the glass rinser and the washing machine drain pan. Email theteam@customersupport.care for anything else and we will tell you honestly whether we can get it.
Got questions?
Plumbing: your questions
Do you sell plumbing fittings, pipe or taps in New Zealand?
No. We are an online home improvement store, not a plumbing merchant. The only items we carry near the plumbing are a suction grab bar, a glass rinser for the kitchen sink and a drain pan for the washing machine. If you need fittings, a plumbing merchant or your plumber is the right call.
Can I fit the suction grab bar myself?
Yes. It grips smooth tile or glass with suction cups and needs no drilling, so there is nothing a Kiwi homeowner is not allowed to do. Check the cups every few weeks, keep it off grout lines, and treat it as a steadying hand rather than something to hang your full weight on.
What plumbing work needs a licensed tradesperson in New Zealand?
Sanitary plumbing and drainlaying is restricted work under the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006. Moving a waste, connecting a new tap or altering a drain needs an authorised person, and drainage work usually needs a council consent too. Swapping a washer or fitting a grab bar does not.
Does the glass rinser connect to my water supply?
It does, through a tee on the cold line under the sink. Because that is a connection to the supply, have a plumber do it or ask them to add it while they are already under the bench for another job. Once fitted it is a simple pressure rinse with no electrics.
Will the washing machine drain pan fit a standard New Zealand machine?
It suits standard front and top loaders. Measure the footprint of your machine and the width of the laundry alcove before you order, as some narrow alcoves leave no room for the pan lip. The drain outlet on the pan can be run to a floor waste if you have one.
How much is delivery in New Zealand?
Orders over NZ$90 ship free anywhere in New Zealand. Below that it is a flat NZ$25, and express shipping is NZ$25. We hand parcels to the courier within 24 to 48 hours and most arrive in 5 to 7 days. Rural delivery addresses are fine, they just take a day or two longer.
What if the item arrives damaged or is not as described?
Email us with your order number and a photo. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act you are entitled to a repair, a replacement or a refund depending on how serious the fault is, and we cover the return postage. Our complaints handling policy sets out how we deal with it.
